Every month, meat from domestic and wild animals (bushmeat) is smuggled into Belgium through air passengers. This illegal import poses risks to animal and human health and biodiversity. The public authorities have therefore decided to take action.
On Tuesday 3 December, international and Belgian experts will unveil the results of two studies on the analyses carried out on meat samples, including bush samples, taken during seizures at our national airport, during a conference organised by the FPS Health.
Then, more than 150 participants from international organisations, public services, the air transport sector, the private sector, NGOs active in nature preservation, academics and the veterinary community will work together on ways for improvement. Their common objective: to reduce the illegal import of bushmeat.

The conference will take place on 03/12/19 at the RESIDENCE PALACE, rue de la Loi 155, 1040 Brussels (Belgium).
