De Belgische CCIM-werkgroep over Plastics nodigt u uit op 27 april om van gedachten te wisselen over een internationaal, wettelijk bindend instrument om een einde te maken aan de plasticvervuiling. Het verdrag moet verandering brengen in de manier waarop we plastic en plastic bijproducten gebruiken gedurende hun hele levenscyclus.

Dit evenement brengt alle belanghebbenden samen en biedt ruimte voor dialoog om een succesvolle overgang te bevorderen.  Het CCIM wil de standpunten van de Belgische stakeholders over mogelijke maatregelen verzamelen en informeren over het proces en de uitdagingen.

De minister van Klimaat, Milieu, Duurzame Ontwikkeling en Green Deal, Zakia Khattabi en de directeur-generaal van DG Milieu, Pierre Kerkhofs zullen deze dag inleiden.
Na een toelichting over de stand van zaken van het nieuwe instrument volgen twee sessies over de strategische aanpak van plasticvervuiling:

  • de ochtendsessie gericht op downstream-maatregelen, bijvoorbeeld afvalpreventie en duurzaam afvalbeheer)
  • de middagsessie gericht op upstream-maatregelen, bijvoorbeeld beheersing van de productie en het verbruik van (nieuwe) kunststoffen en circulair ontwerp.
