Public authorities have lots of information about the environment. Everyone has the right to access this information: the citizen as an individual, citizen groups, associations, businesses, etc.

Through the sites www.info-abeilles.be and www.jedonnevieamaplanete.be, the FPS Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment seeks to actively disseminate as much information as possible relating to bees and their preservation.

However, if information was not available on-line, each and every one of us could go to the federal public administration to ask for it. This implies the possibility of viewing this information on the spot, getting explanations about it or receiving a copy.

The right of access to environmental information is a pillar of the Aarhus Convention. It was implemented at the European level in Directive 2003/4/EC of the European Parliament and the Council. The Federal State has implemented the Convention and the Directive into the law of 5 August 2006 on public access to information about the environment.
