The third pillar of the Aarhus Convention concerns public access to justice in environmental matters.
This is a right that should be as widely and as freely available as possible.
Anyone should therefore be able to use justice to denounce a failing in the law in the context of the Convention’s principles (access to information and participation in decisions) or - more broadly - a violation of environmental legislation.
