As regards the Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), the federal product policy has been grafted onto the following two European directives:
- the WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment);
- the RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU (Reduction of Hazardous Substances).
The federal competencies within these two directives were together transformed into the Royal Decree of the 17th of March, 2013 regarding the prevention of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, better known as the “RD RoHS”.
