We use increasingly more energy for household appliances. The government wants to promote energy-efficient household appliances to save the environment, fight climate change and lower your energy bill. This also ensures that the energy supply is not endangered and that there is less emission of smog and fine dust from electric power plants and chimneys.

Many of these devices also work partially or even exclusively with batteries. Batteries contain heavy metals. You can read in the section "batteries" what you can do to avoid harmful effects on the health of humans and the environment.

Europe has already expressed some requirements and introduced an energy label. More explanation about this can be found in the section “Legal obligations”.

But as a consumer, you already contribute towards this.  The section “What can you do” gives a few useful tips.
