The system of protection and conservation of cetaceans is fragmented into a complex mosaic. In fact, alongside the IWC, there are other organisations and conventions concerning cetaceans.
Among the relevant conventions some are specific to cetaceans while others involve many more species and sometimes even the entire biodiversity.
