- 19/2/2013: During the European Union Council’s meeting, Belgium highlights the economic importance of nanomaterials, reiterates its demands for the improvement of the legislation on nanomaterials, calls for the creation of a nanomaterials’ register and for the adoption of a global strategy on emerging technologies linking innovation and safety.
- 03/10/2012: The European Commission publishes its second review of the legislation on nanomaterials. This review opens up the possibility of amending the REACH regulation’s annexes in order to take into account the specificities of nanomaterials.
- 21/09/2012: Nanomaterials are included in the Global Action Plan of the SAICM
- September 2012: Within the framework of SAICM (Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management), a Swiss project about international strategy on the chemical safety of nanomaterials is being discussed at the ICCM3 (3rd International Conference on the Management of Chemical Products). The proposal can be found on SAICM’s website.
- August 2012: France adopts a legislation introducing a mandatory declaration of nanomaterials available on the French market.
- July 2012: Belgium, among other MSs, co-signs a letter addressed to the European Commission, requesting additional regulatory actions concerning nanomaterials.
- October 2011: The European Commission publishes a recommendation for the regulatory definition of nanomaterials.
