Belgium holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU since 1 January 2024. For the next six months, our FPS will be organising various events while guiding the European legislative work.
The Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU) began on 1 January 2024. For the next six months, our country will help to set the Council's agenda and shape cooperation between the 27 Member States. Belgium will also be organising various national and international events.
Under the slogan "Protect, strengthen, prepare", the Belgian Presidency intends to focus on protecting citizens, strengthening the economy and preparing our EU institutions for the future. If you want to know more, feel free to consult the official website of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The Federal Public Service for Public Health, Food Chain Safety and the Environment intends to contribute in its own way to the presidency. Indeed, over the next six months, our FPS will be promoting the "One World, One Health" principle on the European scene: this approach emphasises that the health of humans, animals and our planet are inextricably linked.
That’s why we are launching a new section on our portal. Here you will be able to follow all our presidency-related events and activities. We'll also be posting regular updates on our newly created X-account in English, as well as Facebook and LinkedIn.
