Lamps for general lighting do not only produce visible light. They also generate other types of radiation, as a by-product. Incandescent lamps radiate a lot of heat (infrared radiation). Energy saving lamps such as low-energy light bulbs, fluorescent lights and led-lamps produce UV light and blue light as by-product – to a varying extent as a result of the specific technology which is used. This may imply a risk, especially for individuals with a particular sensitivity of the skin or a certain eye condition.

In the section “Lamps and radiation” you can find more information on the possible risks of artificial light.
